Earth Agenda

The Earth Agenda project  - currently under development - is both a web-platform and an international network of small groups. It is a development of the earlier Sustaining Life Project that was linked to the SSRU.

With its focus on creative, connective practices and initiatives effecting transformation - it aims to open up a space for new insights and dialogue across disciplines and sectors, between local contexts and across countries, enabling project people, visionaries, policy makers and other practitioners to share their experiences and to explore:
  • the connection between values and actions
  • different takes on 'sustaining life' in different contexts
  • our social footprint
  • policies and actions that work, and why
  • different levels and kinds of participation
  • participatory practices and their relationship to the biosphere programme
  • aspects of globalisation that hinder or support an eco-centric society
  • the role of imagination, creative strategies and new methods of engagement in moving toward ecological and social justice

Earth Agenda is coordinated by Shelley Sacks and Dr. Graham van Wyk.

Other members of the project are: Prof Richard Hayward and Prof. Caroline Tisdall.

The Sustaining Life Project / Earth Agenda was launched with a donation from conservationist, Paul Fentener van Vlissingen.
