Open Forums

The open forums on this site provide space for discussion in the field of conteporary social sculpture.

Listening, speaking and thinking together are processes central to the social sculpture ideas and proposals.

The 'permanent conference' was a term Beuys used to describe the dialogue, exchanges and social process work that supports the shaping of a humane, democratic and viable future.

The web offers opportunities for international and ongoing communication that does not only favour those with the means to participate in international forums. It also makes possible connections between local and global voices that in the days of the Free International University were expensive, energy intensive and fairly exclusive.

Web based forums cannot compete with the multidimensionality of face to face exchanges. The SSRU is committed to enabling both live and virtual exchanges.
