Frances Burton
Frances Burton was born in South Africa where she worked for many years in Kenilworth Waldorf School as an Art Therapist. She came to England in 2000 and began to practice solely as an artist.
Between 2005-2007 she studied Social Sculpture on the Interdisciplinary Arts MA program at Oxford Brookes where she focused on bringing her experience of the transformative relationship between human interaction with aesthetic materials into a wider social setting.
She aims to make physical environments that create a safe place for individuals to embrace the whole of their souls, (and that of the World) most especially those parts they are least likely to want to embrace.
She sees each person she interacts with as a co-artist, as each person sculpts or shapes the world they live in and therefore can choose to activley engage with this responsibility and ability. The exchange with each person attempts to activate and deepen this sense of personal response-ability and power to choose one's actions, to develop one's potential and desire to participate in the healing of our environment and our mental and physical health.
